The Trophies and Medals have kindly been donated by SHADES OF NGWENYA and have been blown in glass. Members of the SAPS will attend the Award Ceremony . Although STAND never asks money at events such as this, we will be asking the public to make a donation - all monies will be given to a worthy cause, nominated by the South African Police Services. All the violence that takes place in South Africa everyday, should NOT overshadow the people and animals that give everything they have [including their lives], to protect and save those who live in their world. It is a tremendous honour for STAND to give this Award every year, and we hope the public will support this initiative. Every year, STAND gives an award to a dog or dogs that have performed above and beyond the call of duty. In some cases the animal is a "civilian" dog - the last recipient, was in fact a pet. However, this year we would like to honour dogs from the SAPS K-9 unit who have been nominated by the Head of the Dog Unit - Senior Superintendent Venter. After an extensive search through all the K-9 units, three dogs have been nominated for the STAND Purple Bone Award - in no particular order they are:
