K.A.Ti CLUB

In the two years and some months since STAND came into being, we have come across quite a number of children traumatised by violent crime. We do our level best to make sure that these children receive relevant counselling and support. However, something very special has grown out of these encounters: K.A.Ti – Kids Against Trauma initiative.

K.A.Ti has grown from an initiative designed to help traumatised children to a CLUB that allows children to become part of the solution to South Africa’s crime problems. Once the word got out about K.A.Ti, people started phoning and e-mailing, wanting their children to become members.

So …

We have formalised the K.A.Ti club and your child (up to age 16) can become a member very simply. All you have to do is complete the registration form, pay your R100 membership fee, and we will do the rest.

K.A.Ti will be hosting and supporting various events throughout the year, mainly to promote awareness of crime and how children can help to prevent criminal activities from taking place in their surroundings.  K.A.Ti will also empower members to help other children should they suspect abuse of any kind, and encourage them to report criminal activities to adults they can trust.

STAND believes that K.A.Ti could become a world-wide initiative, allowing children from every nation to network, as well as to develop a culture of caring and support amongst future generations.

Part of the K.A.Ti membership requirements is that the children pledge to help others in times of crisis. Think what that could mean when traumatic incidents (not necessarily criminal in nature) occur in other parts of the world. Can you imagine how amazing it would be to see children reaching out to other children? This could have a serious, and very positive, impact on the world. The saying goes “let the children lead the way”.

We encourage you to sign your children up as members, and to spread the word to others. We will be sending out a regular newsletter to K.A.Ti members that will keep you informed of all our upcoming activities.
