What we STAND for:

Standing Together Against Needless Death

STAND is a social movement established to vigilantly uphold the constitutional rights of South African citizens to live free and productive lives, without the constant threat of violent death and its tragic consequences for survivors, relatives, civil society and the human wealth of our nation.

1.

Mission.

Our mission is to be an integral element of good civil corporate governance as an irrepressible voice against needless death for the benefit of all citizens, but also to be a vital, ever-present source of support, help and solidarity to those affected by violent criminal attack.

2.

Vision

We have a vision of a society that is free of the horror of violation with impunity of its God-given right to life. Where citizens can live full and productive lives and enjoy the heritage that this country has to offer.  Where civil retribution for perpetrators is swift and equal to the severity of their crimes.

3

Values.

We uphold the universal moral value that every individual life is precious

We uphold the truth that violent death is an aberration, and repulsive to civil society

We uphold the truth that a nation that does not value its families and their right to live peaceful and secure lives does, not have the right to be called civilised.

We reject the belief that violent crime is a consequence of past inequalities.

We believe that the leaders of our nation who have been conferred with power and authority to govern, are responsible and accountable for the condition of our society

Beneficiaries.

The primary beneficiaries of our presence in society are the survivors of violent attack, their immediate families and the families of deceased victims who do not survive.

The secondary beneficiaries of STAND are our subscribers.  These are members of society both individual and corporate who have aligned themselves with our aims and values as registered supporters, and from whom we receive financial support and other resources as needed from time to time.

The general beneficiaries of STAND are seen as the ordinary members of communities throughout South Africa whose quality of life is improved by the strategic impact we make on social security, the judicial system, public awareness, improved corporate governance, and the accountability of public officials for their decisions and omissions.
